Established in the early 1800s, Deerfield is a quiet community in northeastern Illinois. About 25 miles northwest of Chicago, it is situated on the Des Plaines River and bordered by Lake County to the north and Cook County to the south. Bannockburn is north-adjacent to Deerfield, and Riverwoods shares its eastern border with Deerfield. These communities are large enough to offer amenities and activities for residents of all ages but small enough to maintain a hometown feel. 

Deerfield is home to excellent schools and a variety of parks, golf courses, and other recreational facilities. Families move to Deerfield for its high-quality public schools and tranquility. Family Days in Deerfield is a great Fourth of July event for the whole family, with carnival rides, games, and live entertainment. The Deerfield Area Historical Society preserves the village's rich history and offers tours and educational programs. Lastly, Briarwood Country Club is the perfect place to enjoy golf or relax in the clubhouse.

Deerfield School District No.109 and is conveniently located near many excellent public and private schools. Bannockburn is served by Bannockburn School District 106, and Riverwoods is served by Deerfield School District 109 for elementary grades and Township High School District 113 for high school.
